Butter Vs Margarine

Pass The Butter … Please.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.  It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter.. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings…..

DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end…gets very interesting!

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .
And now, for Margarine..

Very High in Trans fatty acids. Triples risk of coronary heart disease …
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol)
and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five times.  Lowers quality of breast milk.
Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response.

And here’s the most disturbing fact…. HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC… And shares 27 ingredients withPAINT

These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

You can try this yourself:

Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has nonutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic . Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends…..(If you want to butter them up’)!

Water vs Coke – Very Very Interesting!!!!

Water or Coke?

 WATER

#1.   75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.  (Likely applies to half the world population)

#2.     In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3.    Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as 3%.

#4.   One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters
studied in a University of Washington  study.

#5.     Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6.    Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly
ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7.    A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math,
and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8.   Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%,
plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE

#1.    In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove
blood from the highway after a car accident.

#2.     You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

#3.    To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the ‘real thing’
sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4.    To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of
Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5.    To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals
          to bubble away the corrosion.

#6.   To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7.    To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan,
wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before ham is finished,
remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8…   To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes,
add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

 FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1     The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days.
Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2.   To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks
must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3.    The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?  or Coke?

MY DADDY DIED

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Saturday, March 20, at 3:20 am, my father died.  He had emphysema, COPD, pneumonia, glaucoma. . .he suffered.  Daddy was an Honorably Discharged United States Marine Sergeant.  He broke barriers and despite the overwhelming racial problems (The Marines were the last branch of service to integrate and allow soldiers of color into the service) in two years he made Sergeant and served active duty in Korea.

He smoked believing he would get cancer and die.  Instead he contracted emphysema and lived.  I am grieving and having more difficulty than I let anyone know about.  I am not angry that he died, but disappointed that such a brilliant man, did not quit smoking and missed out on 30 years of healthy living.  I think about his genius mind, good heart, strong spirit and million dollar smile, that all slowly ebbed away.

I am not asking for anything for me.  But the purpose for this post is to implore all of you to take care of yourselves.  I am not a doctor and can’t tell you what to do, but do the best that you can.  Even 1 step in the right direction every day, is 1 step ahead of where you were yesterday.  You don’t have to join a health club, go for a walk.  You don’t have to walk 10 miles, walk around the block, or to the end of the driveway.  You don’t have to eat wheatgrass and celery.  Cut back on salt, gravy, butter, eating late.  I know smoking is very hard to quit, but you can do it.  You don’t have to do it all at once.  Do it one cigarette at a time.  But for those of us who know and love you, be healthy.

A NEEDLE CAN SAVE THE LIFE OF A STROKE PATIENT

A NEEDLE CAN SAVE THE LIFE OF A STROKE PATIENT

Keep a syringe or needle in your home. It’s amazing and an unconventional way of helping a victim to recover from stroke. Read this, it can help somebody who has a stroke one day.Do take a minute to read this. You’ll never know. One’s life may depend on you.

‘My father was paralyzed and later died from the result of a stroke. I wish I knew about this first aid before. When stroke strikes, the capillaries in the brain will gradually burst.’(Irene Liu)

When a stroke occurs, stay calm. No matter where the victim is, do not move him/her. Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst. Help the victim to sit up where he is to prevent him from falling over again, and then the bloodletting can begin. If you have in your home an injection syringe that would be the best, otherwise, a sewing needle or a straight pin will do.

1. Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it, and then use it to prick the tip of all 10 fingers.

2. There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about a mm from the fingernail.

3. Prick till blood comes out.

4. If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with your fingers.

5. When all 10 digits is bleeding, wait a few minutes then the victim will regain consciousness.

6. If the victim’s mouth is crooked, then pull on his ears until they are red.

7. Then prick each ear lobe twice until two drops of blood comes from each ear lobe. After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.

Wait till the victim regain his normal state without any abnormal symptoms then take him to the hospital, otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital, the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst. If he could save his life, barely managing to walk, then it is by the grace of his ancestors.

‘ I learned about letting blood to save life from a Chinese traditional doctor, Ha Bu-Ting, who lives in Sun-Juke. Furthermore, I had practical experience with it. Therefore I can say this method is 100% effective. In 1979, I was teaching in Fung-Gaap College in Tai-Chung. One afternoon I was teaching class when another teacher came running to my class room and said in panting, ‘Ms. Liu, come quick, our supervisor has had a stroke!’

I immediately went to the 3rd floor. When I saw our supervisor, Mr.Chen Fu-Tien, his color was off, his speech was slurred, his mouth was crooked – all the symptoms of a stroke. I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen’s 10 fingers tips. When all 10 fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen’s face regained its color and his eyes’ spirit returned, too. But his mouth was still crooked. So I pulled on his ears to fill them with blood. When his ears became red, I pricked his right earlobe twice to let out 2 drops of blood. When both earlobes had two drops of blood each, a miracle happened. Within 3-5 minutes the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his speech became clear. We let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea, then we helped him go down the stairs, drove him to Wei-Wah Hospital. He rested one night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.

Everything worked normally. There were no ill after-effects. On the other hand, the usual stroke victim usually suffers irreparable bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital. As a result, these victims never recover.

(Irene Liu)

Therefore stroke is the second cause of death. The lucky ones will stay alive but can remain paralyzed for life. It is such a horrible thing to happen in one’s life. If we can all remember this bloodletting method and start the life-saving process immediately, in a short time, the victim will be revived and regain 100% normality.

If possible, Please forward this after reading. You never know. IT MAY HELP SAVE A LIFE.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE – Ebony Magazine March 2009

Monday, May 25th, 2009

The economic crisis is taking a toll on many whose coverage is connected to their employment.

There are nearly 47 million people in this country who don’t have health insurance, many of whom lost their medical coverage when they lost their jobs.  According to the U.S. Labor Department and health care officials, if you are among thsoe who no longer have employer-subsidized health insurance, here’s what you can do to continue addressing your medical needs:

1.      If you are married, your first step should be to check with your spouse’s employer to see if you are eligible for health coverage as a family member.  Those group plans are normally most affordable.

2.      Consider COBRA.  The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 requires employers with a minimum of 20 workers to continue coverage for at least 18 months or as long as 36 months for dependents under special circumstances.  If you choose to get coverage under COBRA, you are required to pay the entire premium for the group policy – plus any administrative costs.

3.       Check with any associations or professional organizations that you or your spouse may belong to because they sometimes offer group plans.

4.       After losing your job, if you decide to be self-employed, consider getting a partner or hire an employee.  It takes just two people to be eligible for group coverage, which is usually the most comprehensive and cost-effective coverage option.

5.       Find your own individual insurance policy.  Contrary to popular thought, you can find affordable health insurance on your own, but it takes a lot of owrk and persistence.  If you shop around, you might be surprised by what you find, especially if you’re healthy.  There are many web sites that will allow you to compare prices.

6.       Fiind a local clinic.  If it is not free,k it likely charges based on income, so it probably won’t charge you more than you can spend at the time.  in addition, if you don’t need the services of a hospital or doctor’s office, take advantage of retail clinics at such places as Wal-Mart and chain drugstores like Walgreens and CVS.

7.       Consider a Mini-Med, which is a limited benefit indemnity health insurance plan that can be issued with few restrictions to those up to age 64.  The Mini-Med policy can be presented to any medical provider and is not limited to any specific PPO network.  These are not major medical plans, but they do provide a variety of benefits.  If you are 18 to 64, you won’t be turned down for medical reasons.

8.       Talk to your former primary care physician to see what kind of temporary break he or she can give you.  Some may offer benefits such as heal-price office visits.

9.       Seek assistance from doctors-to-be.  Several medical schools and teaching hospitals offer low-cost or free medical care at the facilities where students train.

10.      See if you are eligible for something free, especially prescription drugs.  Check with drug manufacturers if you qualify for any of hte prescription assistance programs.

11.      Look into state and federal programs.  In most states, you can get coverage in a high-risk pool if you are sick and can’t get individual coverage through a private insurer.  Call your state department of insurance to see if you are eligible.  Medicaid is also a possibility for those who meet federal guidelines.  Contact your state departmenht of social services.
